Band Good Morning (Pull Through)
The Band Good Morning Pull Through is a hip-hinge exercise performed with a resistance band anchored behind the body. The band pulls backward as you hinge and provides resistance as you extend the hips to stand. The hamstrings and glutes perform most of the movement while the lower back supports the torso.
Training context
Benefits of the Band Good Morning Pull Through
The rear anchor encourages you to push the hips backward and then drive them forward against the band. This can make the movement useful for practicing a hip hinge or adding hamstring and glute work without a barbell.
Band tension and distance from the anchor can be adjusted easily. Stand far enough away to create steady resistance, but not so far that the band pulls you backward or changes your balance.
Technique overview
Drive the hips forward against the band
Anchor the band securely behind you and position it across the upper back as instructed. Keep a small bend in the knees, push the hips backward, and hinge while maintaining a steady torso. Stop at the deepest range you can control, then squeeze the glutes and drive the hips forward to stand. Avoid rounding the back or letting the band snap you toward the anchor.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
