Bench Press - With Bands
The Bench Press with Bands is a chest exercise performed on a flat bench with resistance bands anchored behind or beneath the support. The chest drives the press while the shoulders and triceps assist. Band tension increases as the handles move farther from the anchor.
Training context
Setup cues for the Band Bench Press
The anchor must be strong enough to remain fixed throughout the set. Check the band for wear and confirm that it cannot slide around the bench leg or pull the bench out of position.
Distance from the anchor and band strength both affect the resistance. Use the same setup when comparing workouts, since a small change in band length can noticeably change the exercise.
Technique overview
Press without letting the anchor shift
Secure the band and lie on the bench with one handle in each hand. Begin with the elbows bent and hands near chest level, then press until the arms are extended. Lower slowly against the band's pull. Keep the wrists steady and stop immediately if the band, bench, or anchor begins to move.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
