Bodyweight Mid Row
The Bodyweight Mid Row is an uncommon hanging row variation performed on a pull-up structure. The body leans back with the legs positioned over or against the apparatus, then the arms pull the torso upward. The middle back and lats provide the main pulling force while the biceps assist.
Training context
Muscles worked by the Bodyweight Mid Row
The middle back and lats retract the shoulder blades and pull the upper arms backward. The biceps assist as the elbows bend.
The setup is more complex than a standard inverted row and depends heavily on the design of the pull-up apparatus. The structure must provide enough room and support for the legs without creating a fall risk.
Technique overview
Secure the body position before pulling
Take your grip and carefully establish the hanging, leaned-back position described by the apparatus. Begin with the arms extended, then pull by driving the elbows back and retracting the shoulder blades. Lower slowly without allowing the legs to slip. Use a simpler inverted-row setup when the equipment does not support this position securely.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
