Clock Push-Up
The Clock Push-Up is an explosive push-up variation in which the hands and body travel sideways after each repetition. The chest, shoulders, and triceps create enough force for the upper body to leave the floor while the feet reposition around a central point. Although classified as strength in the source data, the movement has a clear plyometric component.
Training context
What is the Clock Push-Up?
Each repetition rotates the body approximately 30 degrees, creating a circular path similar to moving around a clock face. The push-up depth and body position should remain consistent as the direction changes.
This is an advanced variation. A lifter should already be comfortable with controlled push-ups and basic explosive push-ups before attempting lateral travel.
Technique overview
Land with the elbows ready to absorb force
Begin in a firm plank and lower the chest under control. Press explosively enough for the hands to leave the floor, then shift a short distance to the side while moving the outside foot. Land with soft elbows and immediately regain a straight body position. Use smaller shifts until every landing is stable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
