Exercise guide
Crossover Reverse Lunge
The Crossover Reverse Lunge combines a backward lunge with torso rotation toward the front leg. The legs and hips control the lunge while the abdominals and back guide the turn. Although classified as stretching with the lower back primary, the instructions describe a dynamic lower-body mobility movement.
Training context
What is the Crossover Reverse Lunge?
The movement alternates sides and combines hip, knee, and trunk motion in one repetition. It can fit into a dynamic warm-up when performed with a moderate range and steady pace.
The rotation should come through the torso without allowing the front knee or foot to twist. A shorter step and smaller turn are appropriate while learning the pattern.
Technique overview
Stabilize the lunge before rotating
Step one foot backward and lower into a comfortable reverse lunge. Once the feet are planted, rotate the torso across the front leg without collapsing the knee inward. Return the torso to center, step forward, and repeat on the other side. Keep the movement smooth rather than dropping rapidly into the lunge.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
