Dips - Chest Version
Chest Dips are performed on parallel bars with a slight forward torso lean. The chest provides the main pressing force while the shoulders and triceps assist. The body lowers between the bars before pressing back to the supported position.
Training context
Using Chest Dips in a workout
Chest dips can serve as a primary bodyweight press or as an accessory after bench pressing. Assistance machines and bands can reduce the load, while a belt can add resistance for experienced lifters.
Depth should be based on shoulder control rather than reaching a fixed point. Lowering farther is not better when the front of the shoulder becomes uncomfortable.
Technique overview
Lean forward without collapsing the shoulders
Support the body above the bars and establish a slight forward lean. Lower under control with the elbows moving outward only as much as feels comfortable. Press back to the top without bouncing or forcing the shoulders downward. End the set before the torso angle or depth changes significantly.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
