Exercise guide
Double Kettlebell Alternating Hang Clean
The Double Kettlebell Alternating Hang Clean uses two kettlebells moving in opposite directions. One bell rests in the rack position while the other hangs below, and the positions switch through a fluid hip-driven clean. The hamstrings and glutes create much of the force while the legs, back, traps, arms, and grip assist.
Training context
Why use the Alternating Hang Clean?
Alternating the bells creates continuous timing and coordination demands. Each side must receive the kettlebell softly while the opposite side returns through the hang.
The exercise should be learned with light bells. The kettlebells must clear the legs and should not collide as their positions switch.
Technique overview
Drive one bell as the other returns
Begin with one kettlebell in the rack and the other hanging between the legs. Hinge and use the hips to drive the lower bell upward while guiding the racked bell back into the hang. Keep both handles close to the body and receive each bell without allowing it to strike the forearm. Slow the rhythm if the bells begin swinging independently.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
