Good Morning off Pins
The Good Morning off Pins begins from the bottom of a hip hinge with the bar resting on rack safeties. The hamstrings and glutes extend the hips to stand while the abdominals and lower back stabilize the torso. Each repetition returns the bar to a complete or near-complete stop on the pins.
Training context
What Is a Good Morning off Pins?
Starting from the pins removes the normal lowering phase before the first repetition and requires the athlete to produce force from a fixed position. Pin height determines the starting torso angle and available range.
The setup is advanced because the lifter must position beneath a loaded bar while bent forward. Begin conservatively and use a rack that allows a safe exit.
Technique overview
Rebuild the bottom position on every repetition
Set both pins evenly and position the bar securely across the upper back. Brace before extending the hips to stand. Lower slowly until the bar settles on both pins without bouncing, then reset the torso and breath before the next repetition. Keep the spine stable rather than forcing an exaggerated arch.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
