Hang Snatch - Below Knees
The Below-Knee Hang Snatch starts with the bar suspended just below the knees. The longer pulling range adds more demand to the hinge and requires the lifter to keep the bar close before accelerating it upward and receiving it overhead.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Below-Knee Hang Snatch
Use a wide, even grip and position the bar close to the legs. The shoulders remain in front of the bar while the feet stay balanced and the spine holds a stable position.
The bar should not swing around the knees. Guide it upward through a controlled path before producing the faster extension near the thighs.
Technique overview
Stay balanced as the bar passes the knees
Establish the below-knee hang with the bar close and knees softly bent. Move through the legs and hips while maintaining balance over the full feet. Extend forcefully, pull under, and receive the bar overhead with active shoulders and stable arms. Stand from the squat before returning the bar under control.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
