Hanging Bar Good Morning
The Hanging Bar Good Morning begins with a barbell suspended from chains or rated straps at the bottom of a hip hinge. The hamstrings and glutes extend the hips to raise the torso, while the abdominals and lower back stabilize the bar and spine.
Training context
What Is a Hanging Bar Good Morning?
Unlike a standard Good Morning, the bar begins and ends supported by suspension rather than being unracked from standing. This creates a fixed starting height and requires the lifter to produce force from the bottom position.
This is an advanced powerlifting variation. The rack, chains, straps, attachment points, and bar must all be rated for the load and arranged evenly. Improvised suspension should not be used.
Technique overview
Reset against the suspended bar
Check that both sides of the bar hang at the same height before moving underneath it. Position the bar securely across the upper back, brace, and extend the hips to stand. Lower slowly until the suspension accepts the bar without bouncing or swinging. Rebuild the bottom position before beginning another repetition.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
