Exercise guide

Incline Cable Flye

The Incline Cable Fly is performed on an inclined bench positioned between two low pulleys. The arms move outward and then return above the upper chest in a wide arc. The chest provides the main effort while the shoulders help control the position.

Training context

What Is the Incline Cable Fly?

The inclined torso changes the angle of the fly compared with a flat-bench variation. Low pulleys maintain outward and downward tension even as the handles approach each other above the chest.

Center the bench between the cable towers and confirm that neither cable contacts the bench. A partner may help pass the handles into position.

Technique overview

Keep a fixed, comfortable elbow bend

Begin with the handles together above the upper chest or face and the shoulders supported. Lower both arms outward through a comfortable arc while keeping the elbow angle nearly unchanged. Bring the handles back together without turning the movement into a press. Return slowly and stop before the shoulders roll forward.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
