Incline Dumbbell Bench With Palms Facing In
This incline dumbbell press uses a neutral grip with the palms facing each other. The chest provides the main pressing effort while the shoulders and triceps assist. The hand position may feel more comfortable than a fully palms-forward grip for some lifters.
Training context
What Is the Palms-In Incline Press?
The neutral grip keeps the wrists aligned with the forearms and often allows the elbows to stay closer to the torso. The source instructs the elbows to flare directly in line with the shoulders, but that position may be uncomfortable and is not required.
Use the bench angle and elbow path that keep the shoulders secure while still directing the press over the upper chest.
Technique overview
Keep the palms facing each other
Use the thighs to guide the dumbbells into position and settle against the incline bench. Lower the weights with the elbows beneath the wrists and at a comfortable angle from the torso. Press upward without forcing the dumbbells together. Return them to the thighs before sitting up.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
