Incline Dumbbell Flyes
Incline Dumbbell Flyes are performed on a low incline with the arms moving outward and inward through a wide arc. The chest provides the main effort while the shoulders stabilize the dumbbells. The source also adds wrist rotation throughout the repetition.
Training context
Muscles Worked by Incline Dumbbell Flyes
The chest brings the upper arms back toward the center of the body while the shoulders control the dumbbells and maintain the arm position. The elbows remain softly bent to avoid creating an unnecessarily long, rigid lever.
The wrist rotation described in the source is optional. A neutral or slightly angled grip may be simpler and more comfortable while preserving the fly movement.
Technique overview
Lower only through a comfortable shoulder range
Set the bench no higher than a moderate incline and begin with the dumbbells above the chest. Maintain a small elbow bend while lowering the arms outward. Stop when the chest is stretched but the shoulders remain secure, then bring the arms back along the same arc. Avoid turning the movement into a press.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
