Incline Dumbbell Flyes - With A Twist
The Incline Dumbbell Fly with a Twist combines a standard incline fly with deliberate hand rotation. The palms change orientation as the arms move outward and then reverse during the return. The source instructions are identical to the separate Incline Dumbbell Flyes record, so the database does not currently define a meaningful difference between them.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Twisting Fly
Use a low incline and light dumbbells because the exercise combines a long arm lever with wrist and shoulder movement. Rotation should occur smoothly and should not force the shoulders into an uncomfortable position.
If the twist adds no clear benefit or disrupts the arm path, use a consistent neutral grip instead. The chest fly remains the main exercise.
Technique overview
Do not let the wrist rotation change the fly path
Begin with the dumbbells above the chest and a small elbow bend. Lower the arms outward while gradually rotating the hands only through a comfortable range. Reverse both the arm arc and hand position as the dumbbells return. Keep the shoulders supported and stop before the elbows drop excessively below the torso.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
