Exercise guide
Incline Dumbbell Press
The Incline Dumbbell Press is a chest exercise performed with the torso supported at an upward angle. The chest provides the main effort while the shoulders and triceps assist. Independent dumbbells allow each arm to press through its own controlled path.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Incline Dumbbell Press
A moderate bench angle usually keeps the exercise chest-focused. Steeper angles place more demand on the shoulders. Set the bench and clear the surrounding floor before lifting the dumbbells into position.
Use the thighs to guide the weights toward the shoulders rather than curling them from the floor. A spotter may help with heavier dumbbells.
Technique overview
Press upward while keeping the shoulders supported
Settle the feet, upper back, and shoulders before beginning. Lower the dumbbells toward the upper chest with the elbows beneath the wrists and at a comfortable angle. Press upward without forcing the weights to collide. After the final repetition, guide the dumbbells back to the thighs before sitting up.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
