Exercise guide
Incline Push-Up
The Incline Push-Up is performed with the hands on a bench, bar, or raised platform. Elevating the hands reduces the percentage of bodyweight being pressed compared with a floor push-up. The chest provides the main effort while the shoulders and triceps assist.
Training context
Muscles Worked by Incline Push-Ups
The chest presses the body away from the support while the triceps extend the elbows and the shoulders control the upper arms. The trunk and legs keep the body aligned even though they are not listed as secondary muscles.
A higher hand position generally makes the exercise easier. Lower the support gradually as strength improves.
Technique overview
Keep the body moving as one line
Place the hands securely on a stable elevated surface and walk the feet backward. Lower the chest toward the edge while the elbows follow a comfortable angle from the torso. Press until the arms are extended without allowing the hips to sag or rise. Confirm that the support cannot slide before every set.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
