Exercise guide
Intermediate Groin Stretch
The Intermediate Groin Stretch is performed lying on the back with a strap around one foot. The raised leg moves outward to the side, creating a stretch through the inner thigh and potentially the hamstrings. Although the source lists hamstrings as primary, the outward leg position clearly involves the groin and adductors.
Training context
Keeping the Groin Stretch Controlled
The pelvis should remain level as the leg moves outward. Allowing the opposite hip to lift may create a larger visible range without increasing the intended inner-thigh stretch.
The knee may remain softly bent if a straight leg creates excessive tension behind the knee. The strap should support the leg rather than pull it forcefully.
Technique overview
Keep the opposite side of the pelvis grounded
Lie on the back and loop the strap around one foot. Raise the leg and gradually guide it outward while keeping the opposite hip and shoulder on the floor. Stop at a mild stretch, breathe normally, and return the leg toward the center before lowering it. Repeat on the other side.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
