Isometric Wipers
Despite the name, Isometric Wipers are a dynamic side-to-side push-up variation. The athlete shifts more bodyweight over one arm, presses away, and moves toward the other side. The chest, shoulders, and triceps perform the pressing while the abdominals stabilize the body.
Training context
Who May Find Push-Up Wipers Useful?
This variation may suit athletes who already have strong standard push-ups and want to introduce uneven loading between the arms. Each side temporarily carries more bodyweight than it would during a regular push-up.
The movement can be scaled by elevating the hands or reducing how far the body shifts. It should not be rushed from side to side.
Technique overview
Shift the chest without twisting the hips
Begin in a stable push-up position. Move the chest toward one hand as that elbow bends, keeping the opposite arm more extended. Press away and guide the body across to the other side. Keep the hips level and stop when one shoulder can no longer control the lowered position.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
