Kettlebell One-Legged Deadlift

The Kettlebell One-Legged Deadlift is a single-leg hip hinge that trains the hamstrings and glutes while challenging balance. The lower back stabilizes the torso as the free leg extends behind the body.

Training context

Before Adding the Single-Leg Deadlift

The kettlebell may be held on the same side as the support leg, as described by the source, or in the opposite hand. Each option changes the balance demand slightly.

The torso does not need to reach parallel to the floor. Lower only until the hips remain level and the support foot stays planted.

Technique overview

Reach the free leg backward as the torso lowers

Stand on one leg with the knee softly bent. Push the hips backward while extending the free leg behind you and lowering the kettlebell close to the support leg. Keep the pelvis from opening to the side. Drive through the support foot and hip to return upright.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
