Leg-Up Hamstring Stretch
The Leg-Up Hamstring Stretch is performed on the back with one foot planted and the opposite leg raised. Gradually straightening the raised knee creates tension through the hamstrings while the floor supports the torso.
Training context
Benefits of the Leg-Up Hamstring Stretch
The lying position reduces the balance demand and allows the athlete to adjust the knee angle easily. A fully straight leg is not required, especially when hamstring flexibility is limited.
The leg may be supported behind the thigh or with a strap. Pulling directly on the knee joint should be avoided.
Technique overview
Straighten the knee only as far as comfortable
Lie on the back with one knee bent and foot planted. Raise the other thigh, then gradually extend that knee while keeping the pelvis settled. Guide the leg slightly closer only if the knee can remain comfortable. Bend the knee again before lowering and changing sides.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
