Exercise guide

Leverage Chest Press

The Leverage Chest Press uses plate-loaded machine arms to guide a horizontal pressing path. The chest provides the main effort, while the shoulders and triceps assist in moving the handles forward.

Training context

Before Adding the Leverage Chest Press

Adjust the seat so the handles begin near the middle or lower chest without forcing the shoulders deeply behind the torso. Both machine arms should be loaded evenly unless the machine is intentionally used one side at a time.

The back and head should remain supported. Do not reach for additional range by allowing the shoulders to roll forward at the finish.

Technique overview

Press without losing the back support

Set the seat and establish a secure grip with the shoulder blades supported against the pad. Press the handles forward until the arms are extended without snapping the elbows. Pause briefly, then return until a comfortable chest stretch is reached. Keep the plates from striking the stops between repetitions.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
