Linear Acceleration Wall Drill
The Linear Acceleration Wall Drill practices the body angle and alternating leg action used during early sprint acceleration. The glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves cycle the legs while the wall supports the forward lean.
Training context
Benefits of the Acceleration Wall Drill
The wall allows the athlete to hold a forward body angle without running. Slow single switches can establish position before progressing to rapid alternating contacts.
The body should form a mostly straight line from the head through the support heel. Bending at the waist changes the intended acceleration posture.
Technique overview
Drive the foot down beneath the hip
Lean into the wall with the arms extended and body aligned. Raise one knee while keeping the opposite leg long, then drive the raised foot down and switch legs. Increase the rhythm only while the hips stay forward and each foot returns beneath the body.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
