Lying Leg Curls
The Lying Leg Curl trains the hamstrings by bending the knees against machine resistance. The torso and thighs remain supported while the lower legs move the roller pad.
Training context
Who May Find Lying Leg Curls Useful?
The machine provides direct hamstring work without requiring the balance or hip-hinge control of a deadlift. It can be used by beginners and experienced lifters when adjusted correctly.
The machine pivot should align closely with the knee, and the roller should sit above the heels rather than directly on the Achilles tendon.
Technique overview
Keep the hips against the pad
Lie face down with the knees aligned to the machine and the roller secured behind the lower legs. Curl the heels toward the glutes without lifting the thighs or hips. Pause at the highest controlled point, then extend the knees slowly without letting the stack slam.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
