Push-Up Wide
The Wide Push-Up is a bodyweight pressing variation performed with the hands outside shoulder width. The chest provides most of the pressing effort while the shoulders, triceps, and abdominals support the movement.
Training context
Using Wide Push-Ups in a Workout
A wider hand position changes the elbow and shoulder angle but does not need to be extreme. Hands placed too far apart can shorten the range and make the shoulders uncomfortable.
Wide push-ups may be used as a chest-focused variation or alternated with standard and close-grip positions. Keep the hand width consistent when comparing performance.
Technique overview
Use a width that keeps the shoulders comfortable
Set the hands moderately wider than the shoulders and establish a straight body position. Lower the chest while allowing the elbows to follow a comfortable diagonal path. Press evenly through both hands and stop before the hips sag or the shoulders roll forward.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
