Rack Pulls
Rack Pulls are partial-range deadlifts that begin with the bar supported on power-rack pins. The posterior chain and traps raise the bar while the grip and trunk maintain control.
Training context
Who May Find Rack Pulls Useful?
Rack pulls may suit powerlifters training a specific deadlift range or lifters seeking heavy upper-back and grip work. Pin height strongly changes the exercise and should remain consistent between sessions.
A high starting position may permit very heavy loads, but the rack, pins, bar, and plates must all be rated for the weight and impact.
Technique overview
Drive the hips forward without leaning back
Set the bar at the selected pin height and position the feet beneath it. Brace the torso, grip securely, and extend through the hips and knees until standing tall. Finish with the ribs and pelvis stacked rather than leaning backward, then lower the bar evenly to the pins.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
