Exercise guide
Reverse Band Deadlift
The Reverse Band Deadlift uses bands anchored above the bar to provide the greatest assistance near the floor. Assistance decreases as the bar rises, allowing the lifter to handle more total bar weight through the upper range.
Training context
Keeping Reverse Band Deadlifts Controlled
Band tension must remain equal on both sides and should pull vertically rather than forward or backward. The rack must be tall and stable enough for the selected anchor position.
This variation changes the effective load throughout the lift. Record the band type and setup rather than treating the bar weight as equivalent to a normal deadlift.
Technique overview
Push through the floor and keep the bar close
Center the bar beneath the band anchors and take a normal deadlift setup. Brace, push through the feet, and guide the bar close to the legs as the hips and knees extend. Stand tall without leaning backward, then hinge and lower the bar under control.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
