Exercise guide
Single-Arm Cable Crossover
The Single-Arm Cable Crossover described here uses two handles but moves one arm at a time. The chest draws each arm toward the midline while the opposite arm holds its position.
Training context
Understanding the Alternating Crossover
Holding one handle still while the other arm opens adds an isometric demand to the stationary side. The staggered stance and torso must remain stable against the cable tension.
Use a lighter load than a standard two-arm crossover if the holding arm drifts or the torso rotates.
Technique overview
Move one arm while the other stays centered
Stand forward of the high pulleys with both hands together and a stable staggered stance. Keep one hand near the midline as the other arm opens through a comfortable arc. Pull it back to center, stabilize both handles, and repeat with the opposite side.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
