Exercise guide
Snatch Pull
The Snatch Pull develops the pulling phases of the snatch without requiring an overhead catch. The hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes, calves, lower back, and traps accelerate the bar through extension.
Training context
What Is a Snatch Pull?
The lift follows the early bar path of a snatch but ends after full extension and a controlled return. There is no receiving position beneath the bar.
The arms should remain long while the legs and hips create speed. Excessive arm pulling can change the timing and reduce the connection to the snatch.
Technique overview
Finish the pull without chasing extra height
Begin with a wide grip, balanced feet, and the bar close to the shins. Push through the floor while maintaining the starting back angle past the knees. Extend forcefully through the hips, knees, and ankles, allow the shoulders to rise, then control the bar back to the platform without attempting a catch.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
