Exercise guide
Bent Press
The Bent Press is a technical kettlebell lift in which the body moves beneath the weight as the arm reaches a locked-out overhead position. The abdominals, legs, hips, back, shoulder, and triceps all contribute. It requires mobility, balance, and experience with overhead kettlebell positions.
Training context
Keeping the Bent Press controlled
The movement is not simply a side bend combined with a normal shoulder press. The kettlebell stays stacked over its base while the torso shifts away and underneath it.
A light kettlebell should be used while learning the positions. Touching the floor is optional and should not be forced if mobility or balance does not allow it.
Technique overview
Keep the kettlebell stacked overhead
Bring the kettlebell securely to the shoulder and establish your stance. Keep your eyes on the bell as you shift the hips and lean away, allowing the arm to straighten while the body moves underneath. Return upright only after the overhead position is stable. Lower the bell to the shoulder under control and avoid rushing between positions.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
