Cable Frog Kick
The Cable Frog Kick moves the working leg backward and outward on a diagonal path. A low cable and ankle cuff provide resistance while the glutes and hip abductors control the movement. The unusual path combines hip extension with some outward movement.
Training context
What is the Cable Frog Kick?
Unlike a straight kickback, the leg travels diagonally away from the body's midline. The exact range depends on hip comfort and the amount of external rotation used.
A stable support helps keep the pelvis controlled. Use light resistance while learning the path so the exercise does not become a torso twist.
Technique overview
Keep the diagonal path controlled
Face the cable machine and hold a secure support. Begin with the working hip slightly turned outward, then move the cuffed leg back and away on a diagonal. Pause when the glute is engaged without arching the lower back. Return slowly and avoid letting the cable pull the leg across the stance foot.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
