Exercise guide

Cable Judo Flip

The Cable Judo Flip is a standing rotational abdominal exercise performed with a rope attached to a low pulley. The rope begins near one shoulder and travels downward as the torso rotates and flexes. The abdominals control the turn, crunch, and return to the starting position.

Training context

Using the Cable Judo Flip in a workout

This movement can be used as rotational core work after larger strength exercises. It combines rotation with a downward crunch, so the cable load should remain light enough that the arms do not perform most of the pull.

Foot position and distance from the pulley affect the path. Use the same stance and cable height on both sides when comparing repetitions.

Technique overview

Shift your weight without losing your stance

Stand sideways to the low pulley with a wide, stable stance and hold the rope near the shoulder farthest from the machine. Rotate away while pulling the rope downward and slightly across the body. Allow a controlled weight shift through the feet, then reverse slowly. Stop before fatigue causes the knees, hips, or arms to take over the movement.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
