Cable Seated Crunch exercise guide

Exercise guide

Cable Seated Crunch

The Cable Seated Crunch is performed on a bench facing away from a high pulley. The rope rests near the shoulders while the abdominals flex the torso forward. The seated position reduces the balance demands of a kneeling cable crunch.

Training context

Who may find the Cable Seated Crunch useful?

This variation may suit lifters who prefer a supported seated position or have difficulty remaining stable during a kneeling crunch. The cable provides adjustable resistance throughout the movement.

The return should create a comfortable abdominal stretch without deliberately forcing the lower back into a large arch. The hips should remain on the bench throughout the set.

Technique overview

Flex the torso without pulling the rope

Sit facing away from the pulley and hold the rope securely over the shoulders. Bring the ribs toward the pelvis as the elbows move toward the hips. Pause briefly, then return slowly while maintaining cable tension. Keep the hands in place and avoid using the arms to pull the attachment forward.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
