Exercise guide
Chin To Chest Stretch
The Chin To Chest Stretch is a seated bodyweight stretch for the neck with additional tension that may be felt around the traps. The hands rest behind the head and provide gentle guidance as the chin moves downward. Because the area and movement are small, patience and light pressure matter more than trying to create an impressive range.
Training context
How to keep the Chin To Chest Stretch controlled
Sitting removes the need to balance and makes it easier to notice whether the shoulders are creeping upward. Interlacing the fingers behind the head adds pressure, but the hands should guide the movement rather than force it.
This stretch can fit into a short mobility break or a cooldown. Move slowly and keep the sensation mild. If it becomes sharp, causes tingling, or travels away from the area being stretched, release the position instead of pulling harder.
Technique overview
Use the hands as light guidance
Sit in a comfortable position and let the shoulders settle before placing the hands behind the head. Point the elbows forward and slowly guide the chin downward, stopping at a mild, manageable stretch. Keep breathing and avoid rounding the entire torso just to move the head farther. Hold without bouncing, then release the hand pressure before lifting the head. This narrow exercise is best approached with less force, not more.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
