Isometric Neck Exercise - Front And Back

This neck exercise uses the hands to provide resistance while the head remains still. Pressing against the forehead trains resistance to forward motion, while pressing against the back of the head trains the opposite direction. The effort should remain light and controlled.

Training context

Setup Cues for Neck Isometrics

Sit or stand in a stable position with the head facing forward. The neck should begin in a comfortable neutral alignment rather than being pushed into flexion or extension.

Neck training does not require aggressive force. Build pressure gradually and stop if the exercise causes pain, dizziness, tingling, or a headache.

Technique overview

Resist the hands without moving the head

Place both hands against the forehead and apply light pressure while resisting with the neck. Hold the head in the same position and continue breathing. Release slowly, reset, and repeat with the hands behind the head. Keep each effort smooth rather than pushing suddenly.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
