Exercise guide
Cross-Body Crunch
The Cross-Body Crunch is an alternating bodyweight abdominal exercise. One shoulder curls and rotates toward the opposite knee while the other side remains closer to the floor. The movement combines trunk flexion with a small amount of rotation.
Training context
Muscles worked by the Cross-Body Crunch
The abdominals flex and rotate the torso while the hip helps bring the opposite knee inward. The exercise should be led by the shoulder and ribcage rather than by moving only the elbow.
Touching the elbow to the knee is not required. Range should stop before the neck is pulled forward or the lower back becomes uncomfortable.
Technique overview
Move the shoulder toward the opposite knee
Lie with the feet planted and hands resting lightly beside the head. Curl one shoulder upward and across as the opposite knee moves inward. Return slowly and repeat on the other side. Keep the hands relaxed and avoid pulling the head or using momentum to complete the rotation.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
