Exercise guide
Decline Oblique Crunch
The Decline Oblique Crunch combines trunk flexion and rotation on a decline bench. The legs remain secured while one shoulder moves toward the opposite knee. The abdominals control both the upward curl and the return.
Training context
Benefits of the Decline Oblique Crunch
The decline angle increases the resistance compared with a floor-based cross-body crunch. Training one side for a full set can make it easier to maintain a consistent direction of rotation.
The elbow does not need to touch the knee. The useful range ends when the torso can no longer rotate without pulling on the head or using momentum.
Technique overview
Rotate through the torso, not the neck
Secure the legs and begin from the prescribed raised torso position. Curl and rotate one shoulder toward the opposite knee while keeping the hand light beside the head. Pause briefly, then return slowly. Complete the set before changing sides and recreating the same starting angle.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
