Exercise guide

Decline Reverse Crunch

The Decline Reverse Crunch is performed while lying on a decline bench and holding its upper support. The legs begin extended or slightly bent before moving toward the torso as the pelvis curls from the bench. The decline angle increases the abdominal demand during both the lift and return.

Training context

Before adding the Decline Reverse Crunch

The hands must have a secure grip on the bench so the body does not slide downward. The bench and leg path should also remain clear of nearby equipment.

The defining action is the small lift of the hips. Swinging the legs without curling the pelvis reduces the abdominal focus.

Technique overview

Lift the hips instead of throwing the legs

Hold the bench securely and begin with the legs extended through a controllable range. Bring them toward the torso, then curl the pelvis enough to lift the hips slightly. Pause briefly and lower the hips before extending the legs. Stop the return before the lower back loses control.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
