Double Kettlebell Windmill
The Double Kettlebell Windmill is an advanced windmill variation performed with one kettlebell locked overhead and another retrieved from the floor. The abdominals control the torso while the glutes, hamstrings, shoulders, and triceps stabilize the position. The lower kettlebell adds load to the hinge and return.
Training context
Muscles worked by the Double Kettlebell Windmill
The trunk resists unwanted movement while the hips shift and the torso lowers. The overhead shoulder maintains a locked position, and the lower hand must control the second bell.
This variation should follow mastery of unloaded and single-kettlebell windmills. The second bell should be placed where it can be reached without changing the foot position or losing the overhead stack.
Technique overview
Keep the overhead bell stacked
Press one kettlebell overhead and turn the feet away from the loaded arm. Shift the hips toward that side and hinge down while watching the overhead bell. Grasp the second kettlebell only when the shoulder and torso remain controlled. Reverse the hinge to stand without allowing either bell to swing.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
