Finger Curls
Finger Curls train the forearms and gripping muscles by allowing a barbell to roll from the palms toward the fingers before closing the hands again. The movement occurs mainly through the fingers rather than through a large wrist curl.
Training context
Before Adding Finger Curls
The exercise requires a secure position because the bar is intentionally allowed to move toward the fingertips. The source instructions mention keeping the feet flat but do not clearly state whether the athlete is seated or standing.
A seated version with the forearms supported may provide more control. Regardless of the variation, use a light bar and ensure it cannot roll away if the grip opens.
Technique overview
Do not let the bar escape the fingertips
Hold the bar with the palms facing upward and begin with the hands fully closed. Slowly open the fingers enough to let the bar roll toward the final finger joints without losing it. Close the hands to return the bar into the palms. Avoid jerking, rushing, or using a weight that cannot be caught securely.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
