Exercise guide

Kettlebell Figure 8

The Kettlebell Figure 8 passes the bell from one hand to the other around the legs in a continuous pattern. The abdominals stabilize the torso while the hamstrings support the hinged position and the shoulders and grip control each handoff.

Training context

Setup Cues for the Kettlebell Figure 8

Use a stance wide enough for the kettlebell and both hands to pass safely between the legs. The hips remain back while the spine and torso hold a stable position.

Begin with a light bell. The drill becomes unsafe when the handoff is rushed or the kettlebell travels too far away from the body.

Technique overview

Make each handoff close to the legs

Hinge with the kettlebell between the feet. Pass it behind one leg into the opposite hand, guide it across the front, and continue behind the other leg. Keep the bell close and the hips at a consistent height. Slow down or place the bell down when the handle cannot be received securely.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
