Knee Across The Body

The Knee Across the Body stretch is a lying rotational position that may create a gentle stretch through the glutes, outer hip, and lower back. One bent leg crosses the body while the opposite hand guides it toward the floor.

Training context

What Is the Knee-Across-Body Stretch?

The floor supports the torso while the hips rotate. The knee does not need to reach the ground, and the opposite shoulder may remain in contact with the floor to limit excessive twisting.

Use light hand pressure rather than pulling forcefully on the knee. The position should feel controlled through the hip and back without discomfort inside the knee joint.

Technique overview

Let the hip rotate without forcing the knee down

Lie on the back with one leg straight and the other knee bent. Guide the bent knee across the body while keeping the opposite shoulder relaxed toward the floor. Turn the head only if comfortable. Hold a mild stretch, then return the leg to the center before changing sides.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
