Kneeling Cable Crunch With Alternating Oblique Twists
This cable exercise combines a kneeling crunch with alternating rotational repetitions. The abdominals flex the torso while the obliques contribute when one elbow moves toward the opposite knee.
Training context
How the Alternating Twist Changes the Crunch
A standard cable crunch moves the torso straight down. The twisting repetitions add rotation after the crunch begins, creating a more complex path without requiring the hands to move around the head.
The source recommends continuing to failure, but the set should end earlier if the hips begin sitting back, the arms pull the rope, or rotation becomes uncontrolled.
Technique overview
Crunch first, then add a small rotation
Kneel far enough from the tower to keep cable tension and hold the rope beside the head. Curl the ribs toward the pelvis for the straight repetition. On alternating repetitions, begin the same crunch before rotating one elbow toward the opposite knee. Return slowly without allowing the weight stack to pull the torso upright.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
