Kneeling Jump Squat
The Kneeling Jump Squat is an advanced explosive drill that moves from a kneeling position to a two-foot squat stance before standing. The glutes and hamstrings create the initial hip drive, while the quadriceps and calves help complete the landing and squat.
Training context
Why the Kneeling Jump Squat Is Advanced
The athlete must generate enough power to bring both feet underneath the body and land in a stable squat. This requires mobility, coordination, and a forgiving padded surface.
The source allows a barbell across the back, but adding a bar dramatically increases the risk of a failed landing. The movement should first be mastered with bodyweight, and loaded versions should be reserved for qualified athletes under direct coaching.
Technique overview
Land in a complete squat stance
Begin upright on the knees and sit the hips toward the heels. Drive the hips forward explosively and bring both feet underneath the body. Land through the full feet with the hips and knees bent, then stabilize before standing. Do not add external load until every bodyweight landing is consistent.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
