Exercise guide
Landmine 180's
Landmine 180s move the free end of a barbell through a wide arc from one side of the body to the other. The abdominals control rotation while the glutes, lower back, and shoulders help guide and stabilize the load.
Training context
Using Landmine 180s in a Workout
The movement may be used as rotational strength or conditioning work when the athlete can coordinate the hips, feet, and torso. It substantially overlaps with the separate Landmine Rotation record.
A true landmine attachment is preferable to placing the bar in an unprotected corner. The free end must remain secure throughout the arc.
Technique overview
Rotate through the feet and hips
Hold the bar with both hands and establish a wide, balanced stance. Guide it toward one hip while allowing the feet and hips to pivot, then reverse the path toward the other side. Keep the arms long but not rigid. Control the direction change instead of allowing the plates to swing freely.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
