Exercise guide
Leg Lift
This Leg Lift is a standing hip-extension exercise performed while holding a stable support. The glutes move the leg behind the body, and the hamstrings assist. The name is broad, and the source's leg-curl comparison makes the exact knee position somewhat unclear.
Training context
Using the Standing Leg Lift
The exercise can be used as light glute work, a warm-up, or a balance-friendly alternative to unsupported hip extension. An ankle weight may add resistance after the bodyweight version is controlled.
Keep the working knee in one consistent position. Bending and straightening it during the movement changes the exercise.
Technique overview
Move from the hip instead of the lower back
Stand tall while holding a secure support. Move one leg behind the body without leaning forward or arching the lower back. Pause at the highest controlled point, then return the foot slowly. Complete the same range on the other side.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
