Medicine Ball Full Twist
The Medicine Ball Full Twist is a back-to-back partner drill in which both athletes rotate together and pass the ball from one side to the other. The abdominals control the trunk while the shoulders hold and transfer the ball.
Training context
Benefits of the Medicine Ball Full Twist
The drill combines rotational coordination with repeated handoffs. Both partners must turn in the same direction so the ball reaches a predictable position.
Use a light ball and moderate speed until the timing is established. The drill should not rely on wrenching the lower back while the feet remain fixed.
Technique overview
Rotate together before passing the ball
Stand back to back with enough space for the ball to pass safely. Turn the hips and shoulders in the same direction and hand the ball to the partner. Both athletes then rotate the other way for the next exchange. Keep the handoff close and controlled.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
