One-Arm High-Pulley Cable Side Bends
The One-Arm High-Pulley Cable Side Bend trains one side of the abdominal wall at a time. With the handle held beside the shoulder, the working-side obliques shorten to bend the torso laterally against cable resistance.
Training context
Benefits of High-Pulley Cable Side Bends
The cable maintains resistance through the side-bending motion and allows the load to be adjusted in small increments. Training each direction separately may also make side-to-side differences easier to notice.
This is lateral flexion rather than torso rotation. Use a moderate load and stop the set when the movement requires leaning forward, twisting, or pulling with the arm.
Technique overview
Bend through the torso without rotating
Stand sideways to the high pulley with the handle held beside the shoulder. Keep the arm fixed and bend the rib cage toward the hip on the working side. Pause briefly, then return to upright under control without allowing the stack to pull the torso past neutral. Repeat with the opposite side facing the cable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
