Exercise guide
Overhead Stretch
The Overhead Stretch reaches both arms toward the ceiling while the torso remains controlled. The position may be felt through the lats, chest, triceps, forearms, and front of the torso.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Overhead Stretch
The exercise is a general torso and shoulder stretch rather than an isolated abdominal stretch. The hands may remain separated if interlacing the fingers causes wrist or shoulder discomfort.
Reach upward without forcing the ribs forward or creating a large lower-back arch. Range should be determined by comfortable shoulder motion.
Technique overview
Reach upward while keeping the ribs controlled
Stand tall and interlace the fingers or hold the hands separately. Turn the palms upward as comfortably as possible and extend the arms toward the ceiling. Keep the shoulders relaxed, breathe steadily, and lower the arms slowly after the hold.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
