Pallof Press With Rotation

The Pallof Press With Rotation adds a controlled torso turn to the standard cable press. The abdominals first resist rotation and then produce and control a small rotation away from the pulley.

Training context

Why Add Rotation to the Pallof Press?

The variation trains control as the torso moves through a chosen rotational range while the hips remain mostly forward. The longer arm position increases the cable's leverage against the trunk.

The rotation should remain modest and controlled. Training to technical failure is not necessary and may cause the hips or lower back to take over.

Technique overview

Rotate through the torso while the hips remain steady

Press the handle forward from the chest while standing sideways to the cable. With the arms extended, rotate the rib cage away from the pulley without allowing the hips to follow excessively. Return to center slowly, bring the handle back to the chest, and repeat from the opposite direction after the set.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
