Exercise guide
Plate Twist
The Plate Twist is a weighted Russian-twist variation performed while seated and leaning backward. The abdominals stabilize the torso as the plate moves from side to side.
Training context
Who May Find Plate Twists Useful?
The exercise may suit lifters who can maintain a supported seated position without lower-back discomfort. Keeping the feet on the floor is a useful regression that reduces the balance and hip-flexor demand.
The plate does not need to touch the floor. Rotate only through the range the torso can control without jerking or collapsing backward.
Technique overview
Turn the torso rather than swinging the plate
Sit tall, lean back slightly, and hold the plate near the chest or with softly bent arms. Rotate the ribs and plate toward one side, return through center, and move to the other side. Keep the motion smooth and place the feet down if balance begins to dominate the exercise.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
